Maria’s first drawing that she remembers is of an herb garden. Lucky for her, she grew up in the central Pennsylvania countryside and her mom said go for it! Digging up some grass in the shape of a circle and making spokes to walk on out of rocks, she planted mint, thyme, oregano, rosemary, attempting some unsuccessful basil and parsley. Many tries later, and getting the watering right, she had some herbs that came back year after year.

After growing up a bit, but not too much. Maria enjoyed a wonderful career as a theatrical stage manager, touring North American theaters and coffee shops, and settled in Seattle where she went through a divorce and began working on herself via talk therapy. Through this work, Maria realized that she felt pretty disconnected from her body, so she was looking for some bodywork that could be done in conjunction with talk therapy/EMDR and without knowing much about acupuncture she tried it out. It was exactly what she needed. The rest is history, as they say.

Maria loves people, she loves building community, hearing folks’ stories, and working with someone on their healing journey. She is interested in pain conditions, digestion, women’s health, and how emotions are stored in the body on the cellular level.

What happens when we experience physical or emotional trauma? Something stopping really fast that shouldn’t? When you look at matter on the cellular level, atoms are comprised of a whole lot of electrons whizzing around that core. So really the building blocks of life are primarily electromagnetic repulsion – that’s not “empty space” in between.

Acupuncture is an ancient medicine looking at the energetic pathways of the body and how blockages contribute to pain and other internal conditions. Like a holistic approach to the body, whole plant medicine uses all the constituents of the plant to contribute to full body resonance.

She’d love to work with you. Let’s be curious together.
